• Cut milk jugs in half and use as planters or bird feeders.

• Watering over the leaves of a plant is wasteful as a high proportion evaporates. Water around the base of the plant instead.
  

• Stop the competition for water by removing weeds.

• Water late in the day to avoid moisture loss through evaporation.

• Add a water butt to your garden to collect rainwater from your roof. The collected water can be used on the garden or even for washing you car.
