Frequently Asked Questions
Handyman Express company information
When was Handyman Express set up?
Handyman Express was set up in 2002 by Robert Lutz, but had been trading under his own name until June 2005. He felt there was a lack of professional tradesman and wanted to offer a reliable, honest and professional home maintenance and handyman service.
What are your office hours?
We take telephone bookings 8am-6pm Mon-Fri, and 10am-5pm on Saturdays.
Why do you use a premium rate telephone number?
Our 0845 number is actually a local rate number. It will cost you the same as all other local calls. The cost will depend on your telecom provider.
Do you have another mainline number that I can use?
If you prefer, you are welcome to call our London landline, 020 7385 7751.
About the Handyman Express service
Do you charge a call out fee?
Unlike many other companies, we charge no call out fee on jobs booked in. However, we do charge a flat £50 fee for call out quotations which cannot be done over the telephone or by email. This acts as a credit for any works booked in as a result of the call out. You are under no obligation to go through with the job once we send you a written quote.
I have had bad experiences with people who haven't bothered to turn up in the past. Do you give me a time that you will come?
We have had the same bad experiences also! We can't stand it, so at Handyman Express we always give you a time that we will come. Not only that, we make an exact time, not an hourly or even DAILY slot that other companies may give you! If anything changes and this time cannot be made, we will call you to let you know we are running late or rearrange another time for you. We don't want to waste your valuable time.
How quickly can you come out?
It really depends on the day, but usually we will book you in within the next few days at a time convenient to yourself. If we have a free handyman, we can come out to you immediately.
What are your normal working hours?
Our usual working hours are 8am-5:30pm weekdays. We can always work outside these hours and on weekends but a surcharge will be added.
Can you help me with any larger jobs?
Yes, we can. The length of our jobs range from one hour to many months. For larger jobs we can quote a price to finish the job, rather than an hourly rate which will make it cheaper for you.
Do your handymen bring tools with them?
Yes. Our handymen come to you fully equipped with all tools to tackle the job at hand.
Do you have any CORGI registered engineers?
No. None of our employees are CORGI registered, and are therefore not able to help you with any jobs involving gas. We can however try our best to source you one that we have worked with in the past, so please contact us and we will help you out as much as we can.
What areas do you cover?
We currently operate in the Greater London area, with the majority of our work taking place in West and Central London.
Do you offer your services to only households?
No, we can offer exactly the same service to businesses. We currently maintain a number of offices, surgeries and pubs to name but a few. For an ongoing contract we can negotiate special rates to suit you.

Complaints
What's your policy on refunds? What happens if I'm not happy with the work?
