Soho property notes
Soho repairs must account for how the premises are used
Soho includes flats, older mixed-use buildings, offices, shops, hospitality venues and studios. A loose fitting may sit in a private room, behind a counter or beside a busy circulation route. The same repair therefore needs different access, protection and timing. State whether the premises will remain open and identify any noise, security or customer-safety requirements before the appointment.
Building age and outward appearance do not establish the wall behind a fitting. Masonry, older plaster, timber and later partitions can occur within one address. Shelves, screens, mirrors and cabinets must be considered with their weight and intended use. Send wide and close photographs, dimensions and product information rather than relying on a short label such as “mounting job.”
Central access should be described specifically: legal loading or parking, floor, stairs or lift, entry contact and permitted contractor hours. If stock, displays or equipment restrict the room, show that in the photographs. Handyman Express does not claim a Soho office or unrestricted access; booking decisions are based on the actual address, task and schedule.
Older mixed-use buildings can also place residential entrances beside working premises. Explain which door, stair or lift should be used and whether keys, alarms or escorts are involved. A safe route for tools and materials should not rely on leaving an entrance unattended. Where the building has a fire or security procedure, the responsible site contact should communicate it before work begins.
