Sydenham property notes
One list, with each part of the property understood
Sydenham includes houses, terraces, converted properties, purpose-built flats and later residential developments. A maintenance list can combine internal doors, wall fittings, furniture, sealant and an outside latch or shelf. Putting everything in one enquiry is useful, but the tasks still need distinct materials and working conditions. Label each by room or exterior area and place essential function first.
Include maintenance history where it is relevant. Repeatedly tightened screws, fresh cracks beside an opening, a recently replaced floor or timber that changes after rain can point to a broader cause than the visible symptom. Photographs from before decoration or product labels from an earlier installation may help. The aim is not for the customer to diagnose the fault, but to avoid treating a recurring failure as a brand-new isolated problem when the evidence says otherwise.
If more than one room shows the same change, mention that pattern rather than sending each symptom as an unrelated request.
Provide a wide view, close photographs, dimensions and product information. Show the full frame or support for exterior items, not only the loose fitting. Explain when recurring problems appear and whether renovation, flooring or weather seems to affect them. These details help the first assessment without turning the customer into the person responsible for diagnosing the underlying cause.
Active leaks, appliance failures, regulated electrical or gas work and unstable structures need the appropriate specialist. General handyman work can cover compatible fitting, adjustment and making good, but should not hide ongoing damage or reduce a larger safety issue to a visible patch. Clear boundaries protect both the repair and the household using it.
