Richmond property notes
Plan for the real Richmond property
Richmond has houses, flats, conversions and newer apartments with many different interior build-ups. Traditional plaster and masonry may meet dry lining, stud partitions, timber grounds, tiled surfaces and concealed service zones, sometimes within the same room. That variety affects wall mounting and repair. An attractive finish does not reveal reliable support beneath it. Shelves, mirrors, rails, cabinets and brackets should be considered by their load, projection, fixing arrangement and use at the intended location, rather than by a general assumption about the building.
General handyman work can include adjusting internal doors, aligning cupboard hardware, changing straightforward handles, assembling supplied furniture, mounting suitable household items, renewing a contained sealant joint and completing an agreed snagging list. State the room, quantity and required result for every task. Detailed photographs show damage and hardware; contextual views show working space, floor finishes, sockets, pipework and adjacent joinery. Product measurements, weight and instructions improve preparation but do not remove the need to inspect the surface.
A recurring defect deserves a cause-led response. A door may catch because of hinge movement, decorative build-up, floor clearance or a changing frame. A cabinet can sit out of line because of adjustment or because its mounting point has deteriorated. Tightening everything is not always a repair. Inspection may indicate careful adjustment, limited making-good, a new sound position or separate carpentry, decorating, electrical, plumbing or structural work. The aim is a proportionate durable outcome, not the quickest cosmetic disguise.
